Urban Strata

"Urban Strata" represents a sophisticated approach to contemporary urban living that maximizes spatial quality within the constraints of a narrow city lot. This three-story residence creates a vertical living experience that balances privacy and openness, indoor and outdoor space.
The design is characterized by its crisp white volumes and horizontal planes that create a rhythmic stacking of spaces. Each level features generous balconies and terraces that extend the living areas outward, creating a seamless flow between interior and exterior. The careful articulation of solid and void creates a dynamic play of light and shadow throughout the day.
The ground floor opens completely to a private rear garden with a reflecting pool, dissolving the boundary between inside and outside. The upper levels provide more private spaces with balconies that offer views while maintaining privacy from neighboring properties. The rooftop terrace serves as an additional outdoor living room with panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape.
The design process began with a careful analysis of the site's constraints and opportunities, including solar orientation, privacy considerations, and the urban context. The architectural strategy employs a clear spatial organization with public spaces on the ground floor, transitioning to increasingly private spaces on the upper levels.
The residence utilizes a refined material palette dominated by white plaster surfaces, large expanses of glass, and minimal detailing. This restrained approach creates a sense of calm and spaciousness while allowing the interplay of light and shadow to animate the spaces throughout the day. Strategic landscaping elements provide privacy and soften the architectural forms.
